Landslide at TVM: 6 trains cancelled
Thiruvananthapuram: Following heavy rains in Thiruvananthapuram areas, six trains slated for departure from TVM were cancelled on Wednesday due to landslides. The Nagercoil-Mangalore Parasuram Express, TVM-Shornur Venad Express and TVM-Kozhikode JanaShatabdi Express were cancelled.

Nagercol-Kochuvelly, Kochuvelly-Nagercoil, TVM-Kollam passenger trains were also cancelled due to the torrential rains. TVM-Gorakhpur Raptisagar Express, Kanyakumari-Mumbai CST Jayanti Janata Express are running late.

The TVM-New Delhi Kerala Express which is scheduled for departure at 11.15 am will leave from Kuchuvelly at noon 1.15. TVM-Hyderabad Sabari Express will also have a delayed start. All trains reaching TVM will be delayed as the tracks are water logged. Some trains will halt their journeys at Kollam or Kazhakootam. The Parasuram Express from Mangalore to Nagercoil will ply only till Thrissur.

With cancellation of the Venad Express from TVM to Shornur, the onward journey from Shornur at noon and the return service will also be disrupted. With the Janashatabti Express too being cancelled, the return journey from Kozhikode will stand cancelled.

Heavy rains were witnessed in TVM for about 3 hours. Tracks were immersed in water and Thampanoor town was flooded. Thampanoor station platform 1, 2, 3 were completely submerged in the water. Landslide was reported at Kochuvelly and it would take about a few hours for the tracks to be cleared of the debris. By noon, train services would be allowed to ply and by evening, all repair works would be completed.

Several trains towards TVM are being held up at various stations. The Mangalore-TVM Maveli Express was halted at Varkala.
Chennai-TVM Superfast, Malabar Express, Vivek Express will ply only till Kollam. Chennai-TVM Duronto Express will ply only till Kazhakootam, Palakkad-TVM Amrita Express and Nilambur-TVM Rajarani Express will end their journey at Mungampuzha. Madura - Punalur passenger will ply only till TVM.

With train traffic going hayward, KSRTC will ply more services from Thampanoor station. More bus services would also ply from Kochuvelly, Kazhakootam, varkala stations.
