GOK #21:  Maniputtu
Here we bring a delicious traditional Kerala breakfast recipe - Maniputtu. These are steamed rice balls served with curry/coconut milk. 

Ingredients:
Fine rice flour - 2 cups
Coconut scrapings - 2 cups
Oil - 1 tsp
Water - 3 to 3½ cups

Instructions:
Boil salted water.
 
Pour the rice flour into it.
 
Mix gently on low flame.
 
Remove from fire after three minutes.
 
Knead to ensure there are no lumps in the soft dough.
 
Apply a little oil on your palm and make small balls of the dough.
 
Sprinkle some rice flour on the balls to prevent them from sticking together.
 
Use a big-netted strainer to separate extra rice flour. Sprinkle coconut scrapings on top of the balls and steam cook to make Mani Puttu.
 
Serve hot with ghee, sugar, coconut milk or curries.
