Kerala chief minister Oomen Chandy to inaugurate Onotsavam 2013 in ECA, Bangalore
BANGALORE: East Cultural Association's ‘Onotsavam’ will be held in ECA premises on September 21st and 22nd.

Kerala chief minister Oomen Chandy will inaugurate the two-day long Onam celebrations in ECA. Renowned Malayalam movie actor Salim Kumar will be the guest of honor for the occasion.

ECA is a beehive of activity ahead of its 39th annual Onotsavam (Onam fiesta). 

‘Most of the people like to celebrate the festival with their family and friends that is why we celebrate our cultural festival Onotsovam on weekends, especialy after the Onam’ explains ECA authorities.

The celebrations are scheduled for two days, inaugural function on 21st evening is followed by heralding of onam spanning a broad spectrum of art forms presented by the club members.

Activities include Pookalam (flower carpet) exhibition and competition, mimicry performance, folk dance, singing competitions, fancy dress, ganamela, aksharaslokam, thayambaka, Ottanthulal, and dance performances. The celebrations include every thing and anything connected to the way of life in Kerala.

The year’s presidents medal will be awarded on the occasion for the children’s who have secured high marks in 10th and 12th standards ( ICSE, CBSE and State board).

A grand Onam sadhya will be served at NDK kalyanamandapa in Indiranagar. The feast will be prepared by renowned chef Amby Swamy from Thrissur.

To give more color to the celebrations commercial stalls will be opened in the club premises.

However, the entry on the occasion of Onotsavan is restricted to members, their family and friends.
